Part II in the 5 Dakini retreat manual

    in Ask Khandro-la

In the back of the 5 Dakini retreat manual, there is a Part II instructions by Tuken Lobsang Chokyi Nyima. I am curious about the difference? It seems more abbreviated than the Part I that you have transmitted to us. Thank you.

Yes, the second text in the Five Dakini Retreat Manual is slightly different from the 1st text. As you have noticed, it's a bit shorter but the meditation process is almost identical. Both were written by two great masters of the Ear-Whispered lineage in the same tradition. As a new practitioner, it is important to learn well one text, the 1st text. Don't worry about the 2nd text for now. Practice the Five-Dakini with openness and confidence.

Thank you too for that clarification, Khandro-la! I didn't realize I too was wondering about that, Dorothy!

Sticking with the first text, as Khandro-la has directed, is just as well, from my experience. For what it's worth, I began with the second text, since the choice wasn't clear and it had seemed to be easier to begin with (not by much, really). Fairly soon I transitioned to the first text (Ngülchu), and once I did, I never went back. I'm so glad a new group of students is beginning this great practice!
