The Supplication to Machik Five Dâkinîs

By Gyelwa Dondrub

(from the Profound Path of Peace: Shiwa Lamsab)

NAMO GURU DEVA DÂKINΠ

(Homage to the guru, yidam deity, and dakini)

Victorious ones’ Mother, to you I prostrate!

Mother, you are a daughter born from the Great Mother’s heart,

Holder of the Prajñâpâramitâ’s teachings,

Liberator of all the fortunate’s minds.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, you are Dâkinî of timeless awareness,

beyond the human realm, Opener of the Three Gates to Freedom,

Conqueror of the four demons' hosts.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, you are of low birth (female) but lofty mind,

small stature yet so majestic,

white complexion, radiating light.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, your body, appearance-emptiness with marks and signs;

your speech, sound-emptiness teaching the Dharma;

your mind, clear light of bliss and emptiness—

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, first you gave me body and mind;

then provided me all material needs;

and finally revealed me the unborn.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, you manifest in form as Buddha Dâkinî,

naturally white, encircled by a hundred thousand retinues.

Mother, you grant sublime accomplishment.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, you manifest in form as Vajra Dâkinî,

peacefully soothing blue, encircled by a hundred thousand retinues.

Mother, you pacify sicknesses, disturbances, negative karma and obscurations.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, you manifest in form as Ratna Dâkinî,

golden GATE [mantra], encircled by a hundred thousand retinues.

Mother, you enhance longevity and merits.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, you manifest in form as Padma Dâkinî,

passionate red, encircled by a hundred thousand retinues.

Mother, you bring the three worlds under your control.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, you manifest in form as Karma Dâkinî,

wrathful green, encircled by a hundred thousand retinues.

Mother, you grind the four demons to dust.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, you outwardly sever god-demons’ deceptions,

inwardly sever physical sicknesses,

and secretly sever mental confusions.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, you cut off biased views,

cut off the meditations of affirmation or denial,

and cut off the acts of accepting or rejecting.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, you sever fear of wandering in cyclic existence,

severed hopes for freedom,

and sever deception of dualistic grasping.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, you cut fixation to the body,

cut self-grasping of the mind,

and cut hopes and fears for results.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

Mother, you manifest the unborn Dharmakâya,

display the unceasing play of Sambhogakâya,

and fulfill the aims of myriad Nirmânakâyas.

My mother venerable Labdrön, to you I pray!

By the force of my [fervent] prayers to you, O Mother,

may you bless this faithful child!

Bless me that I turn negative conditions to the path!

Bless me that my adversities shine as aids!

Bless me that I cut through the root of confusion!

Bless me that I realize the unborn nature of my mind!
