This 24-hour spiritual intensive marks a significant milestone for DW, offering the sangha a profound way to accumulate merit during one of the most auspicious times of the year.
The event will flow in three distinct phases:
The Gathering and Vows (Sunrise, May 31): The sangha convenes online as the sunrise on the Pacific Coast. Preceptors will guide the aspirants through the formal taking of the Eight Mahayana Precepts, setting a unified, pure motivation for the hours ahead.
Continuous Practice (Throughout the Day): Rather than dispersing entirely, aspirants will be encouraged to sustain their mindful awareness. The schedule will feature various powerful prayer sessions, mantra recitations, and meditation periods that members can join to anchor their practice and keep the collective energy focused.
The Conclusion (Sunrise, June 1): The sangha will gather one final time to formally conclude the vows and dedicate the accumulated merit for the liberation and benefit of all sentient beings.
A Special Invitation: Observing the Eight Mahayana Precepts for Saka Dawa
As we approach the auspicious great day of Saka Dawa (Saka Dawa Duchen)—a sacred time when the karmic results of our positive actions are multiplied 300 million times—Khandro la will be offering the Eight Mahayana Precepts ceremony for the very first time to our community.
Taking these precepts is a beautiful and direct way to enhance our spiritual merit, deepen our ethical foundation, and generate boundless positive energy for the benefit of all beings. By holding these vows together as an online community, we create a powerful, unified field of practice.
