This is a completely free offering to the community.

With the recent transition of Bob Thurman—the beloved "Professor Je Tsongkhapa in the West"—we are gathering to celebrate his luminous life, his razor-sharp intellect, and his wild, inexhaustible joy. Bob spent his life teaching us that the bodhisattva path isn't a burden of dour self-sacrifice; rather, it is the supreme, blissful logic of compassion.
In this special 1-hour teaching, we will explore Chapter 7 of Shantideva’s Bodhicaryavatara ("Joyous Effort"). Weaving together Shantideva’s profound verses with personal Dharma reflections, we will look at how true spiritual effort isn't about white-knuckling our way through struggles. Instead, it is about discovering the absolute thrill of waking up, dropping our self-obsession, and riding what Shantideva called the "horse of bodhicitta."
Whether you are new to the Dharma or a longtime practitioner, please join us to set a collective motivation, share a few laughs, and honor a teacher who showed us all how to proceed from joy to joy.
"Riding the horse of bodhicitta, which clears away all sorrow and weariness, what sensible person would despair, proceeding in this way from joy to joy?" — Shantideva
