I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 of the 5 classes in the series of 5 Dakini Subtle body trainings with Khandro La leading us in such interesting movements - the depth of which my mind and body could not grasp fully - but it certainly was a sweet taste. I am keen to do more of this somatic expression and release method devised by these Buddhist embodiment postures . I laughed and cried and mostly probably frowned with concentration . Khandro La was such a free and joyful example of the practices. Definitely desire more. 💃🥰
Dakini's Whisper
Using the word "somatic" is beautiful here, Shona. I believe the somatic experiences we Westerners perceive as somatic really aren't as deep as they could be, for example, "somatic yoga" by definition. Khandro-la takes us into the deepest places of our somatic self in SBT and I too have found myself laughing and crying at the same time in her classes. Since starting SBT, I find that other types of movement (like when I teach yoga/do yoga) aren't as satisfying without incorporating some sort of dakini movement inspired by Khandro-la.
Your response urged me to check out the definition of Soma (as it relates to Somatic). From Wikipedia : Soma is a drink used in ancient India, in the (Vedic) culture. It is written of in the Vedas, in which there are many hymns praising it...... In the Vedas, Soma is both the sacred drink and also a god (deva).
Isn't that so interesting! as Khandro La and the teachings often refer drinking and transforming into the sacred nectar of bliss awareness. In this sense we are using our bodies and postures of the Dakini's to release this nectar. LOVE IT!
@shona.collaborationswithnature I didn't know this about Soma and YES! that is super interesting! Thank you for sharing that!
