Machik’s Great Explanation (Namshe Chenmo) is the most famous and complete teaching of Machik Labdrön, the great Tibetan female master who founded the Chöd tradition. It sets out her radical and profound view of severance—cutting through ego-clinging and self-fixation—while bringing compassion to all beings, including demons and obstacles. The text explains the view, meditation, and conduct of Chö, clarifying its unique integration of Prajñāpāramitā (wisdom of emptiness) with direct, embodied practices.
