INVITATION
Dakini’s Whisper announces LUMINOUS VOYAGE, a new meditation, discussion and study group exploring our relationship to death and dying. Intended to provide guidance, insight and practice skills for people with a common interest in end of life experiences and teachings, the group will meet monthly on the 1st Tuesday at 4:30 PST (7:30 EST).
LUMINOUS VOYAGE will focus on The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche along with other selected resource materials selected by Khandro-la, such as films, articles and poems readily available online. These additional materials will be shared with participants in advance of each monthly gathering and we ask that people read the materials prior to meeting in order to fully participate.
In a contemplative and safe environment, practitioners will discuss the book along with additional resources, and share experiences and inquiries about the dying experience and death itself. This group will be facilitated by Elizabeth Ebaugh, a Dakini's Whisper student, and Khandro-la will offer related teachings and transmissions on special occasions throughout the year as part of the group gathering.
LUMINOUS VOYAGE is open to the general public. Registration is required (no later than February 28th) after which the zoom link and resource materials will be shared on eLearning.
CONTENT and ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
LUMINOUS VOYAGE monthly gatherings will include the following:
An exploration of being with death/dying - self, others and as well as after death dimentions.
Study and discussion on death and dying in the context of Lamrim.
A practice-oriented approach to death and dying from the Buddhist perspective.
Chö offering of the body
Meditation on one’s own death in dissolution stage
Meditation on one’s own sky burial or other visualizations of the dying experience
Other practices such as tonglen
Khandro-la will give teachings and transmission related to death and dying (i.e. Phowa, Five Forces and meaningful inquiries and contemplations) for some of group gatherings.
Registrants will be able to access additional RESOURCES identified by Khandro-la and shared on DW eLearning.
